When your mother sings Santa Baby, the man himself delivers your gifts.
The song, Santa Baby was written by Phil Springer, Joan Javits and Tony Springer for my mother, Eartha Kitt. It was originally recorded by her, with Henri René and his orchestra in New York City, in July 1953. The song was a huge hit, and my mother often said that it was one of her favorite songs to record and perform. One of the last times she performed it, was at the lighting of the National Christmas Tree in 2006, for President and Mrs Bush.
Santa Baby ‘certified gold’, my mother and, Elf on the Shelf
Many people have recorded Santa Baby, but few people know that there was a second version, This Year’s Santa Baby, that my mother recorded in 1954, a year after the original. It never received much attention, but I’ve always thought it was even more clever than the original… Take a listen…
I wish you and your family a happy and healthy holiday season, filled with love and laughter.

Seems we have a few things in common
Hi! Just watched UnSung Hollywood about your mom, and I loved it! What a strong resilient woman. I felt her pain but she was a force to be reckon with and to rise above the cruelty she endured. Bless her. I play Santa Baby every Christmas ! It’s not Christmas until you hear that song !! I love the second version too! And one last thing, BOOMERANG is my ALL time favorite movie!! I watch it when it comes on TV and sometimes I watch it from NETFLIX !
Thanks for sharing.
Shapiro’s Collective!!! WE wanted to visit Connecticut on Eartha Kitt day but (sigh) (the New England snowy weather that I have always cherished when I lived NH late sixties & early seventies in Portsmouth on Pease Air Force base ) has hampered that surprise voyage! (drat) Yet and still again Happy Eartha Kitt Day and Happy birthday to Eartha” on this special day” in the words our friend on twitter Margery Marcelino way out in L-A Calif! Cheers from Chip
Her version has and will be the iconic and only version I prefer. I love her mannerisms and her presence in life.
It’s hard for me to disagree with that. 🙂
